As Graphico New Media continues to grow from strength to strength and with the small difficulties of being spread across 7.5 floors (albeit in two buildings) there is a need for more speed to reach those all important meetings.
As we all know, one person who is 10mins later to a meeting with five colleagues costs the team one hour of lost time…think about that!
Therefore it was interesting to see how one company overcame these problems.
Maybe we should get Mab to install a couple of these. MDF and a bit of varnish should do the job. Simon, what do you reckon.
Please note this is a blatant rip off from the official Match report written by Coach Jalowiec…. hence the lack of humour!!
It would have been easy to think that after last weeks lesson in football, Graphic FC would have been a shadow of it’s former self. Yet nothing could have been further from the truth. For the first time they had a full squad to select from, including a debut for Gavin ‘floats like a butterfly’ Bewley-Jones.
The fixture saw Graphico pitted against the experienced side ‘Bada Bing’ who were currently second in the league. Though the night was bitterly cold, Graphico got off to a red-hot start and took the lead in the first 5 mins with a nicely worked passing move all the way from the back. This set the tone for the style of pay which saw a first half full of solid passing and good positional tactics with neither team being stretched too much. It ended 1-1.
With rumours of potential absentees for the next couple of fixtures, regular substitutions were made in the second half to allow the management a good look at the recent additions to the squad. There have even been rumblings of another external signing being made from ‘Newbury Weekly News UTD’ to help provide cover during this time. However, despite the team changes, Graphico played well in the second half and continued to impress with some balanced play. Though experience won through in the end, Graphico can be very pleased with the progress that is being made. It’s surly just a matter of time before we see the great Oaks these acorns promise to be. The match ended 3 – 1 to Bada Bing.
Last night (15th January), Graphico FC took part in their second Newbury Soccer Sixes league game.
News was hot off the press of an immanent sponsorship deal that was being brokered late into the evening. The deal was struck as the team left the office. The name of the sponsor cannot be officially released at this time due confidential agreements.
However, when the news was leaked to the squad during the warm up (yes we had one, sort of), we did what any self respecting team did. We kicked the ball around and hit as many objects in the car park as possible, all deliberately of course. Even the trusted foot of Liam’s managed to kick the ball right up to the doors of the college, a good 400 yards off target.
Following the warm up we took to the field and immediately we were made to understand what Soccer Sixes was all about. Before we had time to say “Over ere son on me head”, we were two-nil down. The was a completely different game to the one previously.
Luckily as it was a different game we had takenk our super-sub ‘The Duke’ along. Unfortunately for us The Duke had never played with a round ball, only an oval one. In fact from my position in goal I do believe I saw at least one ‘air shot’.
Overall the team put in a valiant effort over the 30mins. Coach Jalowiec commented at the end “It was a game of two halves….in which both were the same, we lost”. Actually I made that up!!!
Tactically and fitness wise we were poor. This is something that Coach, Captain and water boy Jalowiec will rectify over the coming weeks with chalk board sessions and boot throwing exercises.
The team was Lee, Alastair, Liam, Simon, JG, Andy (welcome) and Mike
It has been a while since Graphico New Media Ltd. had such instant success at the beginning of the year.
Well 2007 changed all that. Graphico FC stepped up to the spot and created history with their first victory over the lesser mortals known as ‘The Firm’ in the Newbury news Soccer Sixes. The final score was 3-0
The team was cobbled together by Coach Jalowiec (Fifa A License holder). Coach Jalowiec also captained the team and was the water boy. The chairman of the team (Mr. Bennett) was kind enough to fund some spanking new water bottles for the team to drink out of.
Goals were scored by:
1 x Liam Harberd
2 x David Beckham (a ringer)
The goalmouth was expertly tendered by someone pretending to be Gordon Banks.
This great success leads to a whole host of issues:
Team selection for the following week
Who to drop
Who is the bucket carrier
What colour do we wear
And should we warm up and cool down so that we can actually walk at work the next day!
See you all next week

With all the talk of stem cell research that is currently making the headlines at the moment. I thought it best to highlight that the effect of drugs on animals is also happening ….shocking I know.
Here is a short film on the effects of drugs on spiders and their cobweb making skills. It is pretty amazing, some of the side effects are certainly not expected
